Uppsala Cathedral is the largest cathedral in the Nordic countries and the seat of the Archbishop of Sweden. Construction of the church began around 1270 and it was consecrated in 1435. Among those buried here are Gustav Vasa and Carl Linnaeus, and in one of the choirs you will find the reliquary of Saint Erik.
Service: Mass is held every day except Saturday; times vary.
Guided tours: Every Sunday at 12:30, and regularly also in English or via the Treasury Museum.
The Treasury (Skattkammaren)
Take the lift up the northern tower and visit the Treasury Museum. Here you will find the world’s only preserved medieval ceremonial gown, unique Renaissance garments commemorating an important event in Swedish history, royal funeral regalia, and Gustav Vasa’s sword.
